Comment: The professor was very boring. Extremely hard to stay awake and pay attention during the class. The problem sets were not that bad and he told you what type of questions would be on the midterms and finals beforehand.

Comment: Enthusiastic about what he does, but HORRIBLE teacher. He cannot teach to save his life and moreover, he thinks he's being generous by making the homework easily graded and one pset dropped but don't let that fool you. The textbook doesn't help and if you dont attend lecture, you can't do the problem sets. However, attending lecture doesn't really help that much either so make sure to attend GSI office hours. The midterm was acceptable but the final was ridiculously difficult. Overall, if you're able to grasp concepts on your own very well, then this might be an okay class for you; otherwise, don't take this class unless you want to feel frustrated every day. I honestly felt so lost because his lecture slides don't make any sense, and whenever you ask for clarification on his answer, he says how 'there is no real answer in economics.' yeah, well too bad we can't just write that on our tests -______-

Comment: Professor Edlin is very knowledgeable and very kind. However, he cannot explain concepts in a way students can understand. During lecture, he would mention the name of a concept, give tons of real-life examples about it, and I would still not know the definition or what the concept actually is. Problem sets are based on check/no check grading, there are 'quizzes' during lecture from time to time that count towards participation, which is also graded check/no check. He replaces your midterm score with the final if you do better on it. Very nice man who is passionate about what he does, but for the exams plan on learning the material on your own. The curve works very favorably for people who do about or a little below average on the exams.

Comment: Lecture notes unreliable due to too much error(lecture notes written on the board). Reading does not help much because lecture notes and the reading are some what irrelevant. Solutions to problem set does not really follow things learned in lecture or book. Not helpful in OH.

Exams HelpfulnessComment: Do not take this class. Miserable. He is really boring, homeworks are borderline impossible, office hours are useless because he doesn't ever answer your questions in a straightforward way. He would beat around the bush. Very confusing. Entire class was frustrated with him - and half the class dropped.
